Graston Technique in San Antonio

Contoured stainless steel instruments used to find scar tissue and adhesions by feel, then break them down. The branded system inside our instrument-assisted work.

The instrument finds it before you do.

Graston Technique is a specific, trademarked system of instrument-assisted soft tissue work. The instruments are stainless steel, each one contoured for a different region of the body, and they are run over the skin with an emollient so they glide until they hit something that does not glide back.

That is the part patients remember. Fibrotic tissue feels different under steel than healthy tissue does, and it sends a gritty vibration up the instrument into the clinician's hands. The tool is a diagnostic instrument first and a treatment second. It locates the restriction, then loads that exact spot in a controlled way so the body has a reason to remodel it.

Best on tissue that healed thick, stuck or crooked.

Scar tissue is not a defect. It is what your body lays down under pressure to close a wound fast. The problem is that it comes in disorganised and it does not glide, so everything around it ends up carrying the load instead.

What a Graston session actually feels like.

Scan With The Instrument

The clinician sweeps the region at a light angle. Healthy tissue passes smooth. Restricted tissue grabs and feeds a gritty vibration back through the steel. That is where we stop and that is what gets treated.

Work The Restriction

Pressure and angle come up on that spot only. It is a specific, uncomfortable sensation, and your therapist adjusts to what you report as it goes. This is not a full-body scrape.

Move It, Then Load It

Treated tissue gets taken through full range and then loaded, because remodeling follows the direction you use. Steel gives the tissue permission to change. Loading decides what it changes into.

Tissue that slides again.

The goal is not a bruise. The goal is a layer of tissue that moves on the layer beneath it, so the joint above it stops paying for the restriction.

Adhesions Broken Down

Fibrotic bands that had glued tissue layers together get separated so each layer can move independently again.

Scar Tissue Reorganised

Controlled load gives disorganised collagen a reason to remodel along the lines you actually pull through.

You Feel Where It Changed

Because the instrument finds the spot before it treats it, most people can point to exactly which area moved by the end of the session.

Range Without Forcing It

Motion comes back because the tissue got more mobile, not because you pushed harder through a restriction that was still there.
