Straight Answers, No Runaround.

Referrals, benefits, what your first visit actually looks like, and what to do if you have already tried physical therapy and it did not work. If your question is not here, call (210) 890-2411 and ask us.

The things people ask us before they walk in.

These are the real questions, answered the way we would answer them on the phone. No hedging, and no numbers we cannot back up.

01 / Do I need a referral to be seen?
No. Texas direct access lets you be treated by a physical therapist without a physician referral for up to 30 consecutive business days. Most people who come to us start without one.
02 / Will my insurance cover this?
It depends on your insurance plan. Most plans cover some or all of the costs associated with physical therapy, but you should check with your provider to determine coverage and any associated fees.
03 / What happens on my first visit?
A full one-on-one evaluation with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. We take the history: what happened, what you have already tried, and what you are trying to get back to. Then a hands-on assessment of how you actually move. You leave with a plan and something to do that day, not a printout handed to you on the way out.
04 / How long until I feel different?
The honest answer is that it depends on what is driving it. A recent strain and a problem you have carried for three years are not the same job. We will not promise you a number before we have examined you. What we will do is tell you at the evaluation what we think it will take, and then keep retesting so you can see for yourself whether it is working.
05 / I already did physical therapy somewhere else and it did not work. Why would this be different?
That is a fair question and you are not wrong to ask it. A lot of people arrive here having done their exercises exactly as told and still hurting. Three things are different here. You get one clinician for the whole session, not a handoff. You get hands-on treatment, not just a sheet of exercises. And the plan does not stop the day the pain quiets down, because pain leaving is not the same as the cause being fixed. That is what the Signature 3-Phase Recovery Program is built around.
06 / Do you treat people who are not athletes?
Yes. The name says athlete, and plenty of our patients are one, but a large share of the people we see came in with everyday back pain, hip and knee pain, shoulder pain, neck pain, headaches or dizziness. Our reviews are full of them. You do not have to play a sport to be treated like your movement matters.
07 / What should I bring, and what should I wear?
Bring a photo ID and your insurance card, and any imaging reports or surgical notes if you happen to have them. Wear clothes you can move in, and if you can, bring something that gives us access to the area that hurts: shorts for a knee, hip or ankle, a tank or t-shirt for a shoulder or neck. If you are here about a running problem, bring the shoes you actually run in.
08 / Where are you, and how do I find you?
We are at 12025 Starcrest Dr, San Antonio, TX 78247, in north San Antonio. The map further down this page will route you door to door. If you get here and cannot work out which entrance is ours, call (210) 890-2411 and we will come out and get you.
09 / Do you treat youth athletes?
Yes. Parents bring their high school and club athletes here, and Dr. Andrew Longoria spent three years coaching high school baseball and football before he was a physical therapist, so the conversation about seasons, tryouts and playing time is one we have all the time. A young athlete gets the same one-on-one session as everyone else.
10 / Do I need an X-ray or MRI before I come in?
No. Imaging is not required to be evaluated here, and a scan on its own rarely explains why something hurts when you move. Bring the report if you already have one, it is useful context. If what we find in the exam suggests you need imaging or a physician's opinion, we will tell you plainly and help you get there.
